In July 2018 I worked s in Befanis Mediterranean Restaurant during four 4 weeks located in the center of the small town Clonmel. In this time I was in service for two weeks and in the kitchen for two weeks.

While working in service I had to do a few different jobs. They were folding napkins, cleaning tables, cleaning much more, taking orders and serving customers. I could often talk with some customers or the really friendly stuff of the restaurant. But in peak times it could be very stressful too. However, I enjoyed this time very much.

The last two weeks I was in the kitchen. The first job I had to do was... cleaning. And then cutting fruits, vegetables or meat. One day I was obliged to make 200 small dumplings. That was hard work but the chef and other people in the kitchen were very nice, so it was easier to do.

During these four weeks I gained many new experiences and met many new friends. I enjoyed that time really.

My work placement at the Clonmel Park Hotel.

The Clonmel Park Hotel is a very popular hotel located rather outside of Clonmel and famous for its weddings.

In the hotel I worked in the restaurant and for one week in the sales office.  In the restaurant I had to clean tables, set tables new up and polish glasses. In the sales office I had to check customer information.

I liked my job in the Clonmel Park Hotel. My work was very varied and  in addition to that I learned a lot of new things. My business colleagues were very polite and open minded.

I think I improved my English and it was a pleasure to work there.

My work placement in Ireland is in Clonmel. I work from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm in the Tots 2 Teens Creche. The kids there are between 4 months and 12 years. I worked in the summer camp with around 21 children aged 5 to 10.

The women working there have a strict timetable. In the morning from 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock is free play. After that the kids get a little snack (some crackers with butter or jam on it). Afterwards they can play in the garden or we go to a park. Lunch is generally at 12 o’clock. Later we go outside again and have another break to eat something. Mostly the kids are picked up at 4 or 5 o’clock.

I love working with the kids because every day is different. It’s varying for the simple reason that there are never the same children and they don't always have the same mood.

Mai´s Café, is where I worked during our time in Clonmel. The typical working day began at 9:00 and ended at 16:00. Immediately I felt very welcomed, because the staff there were friendly and sympathetic.

My main assignments there were to serve the customers. I also had to clean and maintain Mai´s Café, like cleaning the tables or mopping.

Furthermore, at the break I'm allowed to enjoy the lovely food at Mai´s Café.

Working in a cafe is really busy and makes you very tired, because you are on your feet the whole day. All in all I really enjoyed my time at Mai´s Café.

My work placement here in Ireland is located in the center of a small town called "Clonmel".

During my stay in Clonmel I had the pleasure to work at the D&D Physical Therapy Clinic. My superiors were kind and friendly, we had some fun moments together. The work itself was pretty demanding.  My partner and I were responsible for creation and administration of several social media channels, extension and management of the company's own website, various jobss due to the data protection act that came into force on 25. May 2018 and various secretary works.

Despite hard work and a lot of time, we have received no recognition or payment which was very disappointing.

My work placement in Irland is the CJAF (Clonmel Junction Arts Festival). In the first 8 days I worked at the festival itself. After that I worked in the office of the CJAF.

The festival was all over Clonmel. It was a bit challenging to find the places, because I only got the name of the event. At the festival I always needed to do something different and that was awesome.  In addition, I met so many people and I got free food.

I needed to do:

-decorate things

-give jojos, water and food to people

-distribute flyers

-rip of tickets

-help with cleaning up the decoration

-let people in and out

-play with children

-typical office work

Overall it was an amazing job and I had the friendliest colleagues.

My work at the Clonmel Park Hotel

The Clonmel Park Hotel is one of the most famous hotels in Clonmel.  It is a four star hotel with a leisure center and a SPA.

My typical working day started at 9 o'clock until 2 p.m. My outfit consisted of a white blouse and black elegant trousers.  At first, I had to help in the breakfast room. In addition to that, I was responsible for cleaning dishes, tables and polish glasses.

Furthemore, I helped in the sales office. There I had to check customers informations.

I really liked my job at the Clonmel Park Hotel. There was always new things to learn and my colleagues were very lovely.

To sum up, I'm very happy that the Clonmel Park Hotel took me and I could improve my English. It is a great opportunity to improve my business knowledge and to learn how a hotel runs.

My work placement was the 'My culture cafe' based in Clonmel.

The cafe is very lovely and

I worked Monday to Friday from 9am to 5 pm.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming which made the work a lot easier. My main responsibilities were serving the costumers and cleaning the tables. The work was a bit exhausting because I had to walk around all day long.

I also talked a lot to the costumers and co-workers to improve my english.

In summary I really enjoyed to work at the 'My culture cafe'

I had the opportunity to work at Gilligan and Co. during the time we stayed in Ireland. Gilligan and Co. is a company that does accounting for other companies.

My typical work day started at 9 o'clock and endet at half past 4. I had a little tea/coffee break everyday and lunchbreak from 1 o'clock until 2 o'clock.

Most of the time I did bank reconciliations or VAT-Calculation for different companies. But sometimes I also had to do some shredding or photocopy.

The staff at Gilligan and Co. was really nice and I learned a lot from them.

All in all, I am glad they choose me to work in this company because I would like to work in an office in the future as well and that was a good way to get a little taste of it.
