Free time activites in Kilkenny

During our stay in Kilkenny apart from work we get to do a lot of other things. In our free time we often meet up in a bar or café and talk about our day or things we plan on to do. Some of us already went shopping in a really nice vintage store and others checked out all good pubs. On the weekend we go out. Kilkenny is a really nice place to party since there are so many pubs but also nightclubs. Especially on Saturdays things get crazy around here. During the week there is one day which we call “social night” and it is on Wednesday. There we can talk to our supervisor in town and figure out problems that might pop up due to the host family or work placement. On the weekend we go on trips like visiting Dublin or going to the beach, the cliffs… This way we get to see a lot of different parts of Ireland which is really nice

So far everyone is enjoying their time here a lot and we can’t wait for more to come!

Kilkenny is a wonderful small town that offers many different free time activities. Probably the biggest and most breathtaking of all is Kilkenny Castle. On our first days we visited the castle with a guided tour through the different rooms. Then we spent some time in the beautifully designed park of the castle. Next to the Kilkenny Castle there were countless pubs, where we liked to spend our evenings. Our most visited pubs were the "Biddy Earl's" and the “Left Bank”, which are both in the middle of the town. Because of karaoke evenings and the good cider they offered us they were the perfect place for us. We also expanded our culinary taste in different restaurants. We had dinner in restaurants from countries such as Indonesia to Texas. There was also a manufacturer in Kilkenny that produced original Irish ice, this was so delicious, that often a box was not enough and we had to get there again because we couldn’t get enough of it. All in all, Kilkenny is a small town, but it offers a lot of sights and in my opinion this city is worth visiting!
